The new Cane Basket Forager is a toy handmade by me! An easy toy to introduce to your small parrot who is beginning to forage. Partially fill the basket with some bird-safe foraging substrate and sprinkle some pellets, millet or other treat on top then watch your bird swinging in the basket while retrieving their goodies. You can also put foraging surprises in the large 8cm vine ball at the top.
The toy measures 20cm wide and 25cm tall. It is fantastic for Budgies through to Indian Ringnecks. It hangs from 3mm plastic chain and stainless steel wire. A loop is made in the wire, for you to attach your chosen hanging link from. All plastic ‘C’ links on the toy are closed off with a straw bead for safety. This toy isn’t suitable for large parrots or those who particularly like to chew through plastic.
The Hanging Basket toy is a popular new design by Super Bird that has our smaller parrots in mind. Great for Budgies, Lovebirds, Cockatiels and other small birds, fill the bottom with a bird safe foraging substrate, pop some food or treats inside and watch your parrot enjoy. Check out the video tab to see Popcorn swinging back and forth in his basket. This toy measures 17.5 x 7.5cm and hangs from a nickel plated pear clip.
This is a super cute little toy that combines shredding fun and foraging! Sprinkle some seed or pellets in the natural, woven basket as well as treats/foot toys/beads in the 2 smiley mugs, hanging below the basket. The mugs hold a 2cm Vine Ball or Mini Feather Weight perfectly as a foraging foot toy for your bird to find (see the videos)! The 4cm birdy bagel tube between the basket and the rubber duck is stuffed with colourful, crinkle paper and is another great place to hide a foraging parcel for your bird. There is a bell, c links and mini pacifiers at the bottom for your bird to play with as well!Measures 23cm long and 13cm in diameter and the cups come in various colours as shown.
These are the refill packs of boxes that fit the SMALL cage mounted box feeder foraging toy by Creative Foraging Systems. These are more than just boxes, they come with a 'honeycomb divider' to separate the box into 8 compartments, prolonging the foraging enjoyment!Made from a solid, crunchy chipboard/cardboard mix, they're great for small beaks to chew. Each box has removable openings to make it accessible to your bird while they're learning to use the toy.
This is a super versatile little foraging toy that is easy to use and can be made harder for your birds. Hide nuts, toys, pinecones, gumnuts etc, shredded paper, blocks of wood, cuttle fish bones, fruit or vege chunks in this toy for your bird to chew out.To use this toy, your bird simply needs to choose his/her target and get chewing! There are a total of 10 slots/opening in this toy to choose from. For expert foragers, you can easily make this toy harder by lining underneath/inside the openings with thick cardboard to chew through. The back of the toy unclips to make refilling a breeze without having to unscrew it from the bars (can be removed and refilled within an aviary also).
Measures 10 X 17.5cm, this toy is made from tough polycarbonate. It comes only in blue and includes the refill pack with wood blocks, shredded paper and a few vine balls as pictured. Screws to the side of the cage with a polycarbonate screw/washer that fits most cage and aviary bars. Further refill packs can be purchased in the online store also, see the linked product below.
The Smarty Stick is a small hanging foraging toy made out of hard timber. Each of the 6 coloured dots is removeable and has a 'well' underneath that you can hide small treats in for your bird to retrieve. Put small pieces of nuts, flavoured pellets or a sunflower seed under the dot and teach your parrot to remove the dot to find the reward. The Smarty stick is 2.5cm thick and 10cm long but hangs nearly 20cm long from stainless steel chain and 'o' ring at the top. Hanging links can be purchased separately if required. This toy is also available in my store in foot toy ring version. It is called the 'Smarty Ring'. The dots can be quite well hammered in at first, please let me know if you'd like my assistance removing them for the first time or if your parrot would prefer to dig them out themselves!
The Creative Foraging Systems Hanging Box Feeder toy is great for feeding your birds' dry food and treats. Fill with bird safe foraging substrate to make the food harder to get to and more time consuming for your bird. Your can introduce this to your bird at an easy level, without any covering at first. Once they know there's food in the toy, you can start covering it with the sleeves provided for them to work more for their food. Your clever parrot will need to chew open the cardboard box to access the rewards inside! The cardboard sleeves come with various perforated openings that you can remove as 'windows' to the food inside, another great way to adjust the difficulty as your bird learns. The Hanging Box Feeder comes with 2 sleeves in the pack already and refill packs of 5 sleeves can be purchased separately. This toy is made from clear polycarbonate and hangs on a short chain with pear clip to attach it to your birds' cage.
This is a sturdy foraging toy designed for large and extra large birds. Your parrot will need to turn the wheel to access five separate food compartments which you can fill with foot toys, beads, nuts, 'foraging parcels' and other treats. You can fit foraging foot toys, such as the Flower Pot, Smarty Ring and up to medium Feather Weights within the compartments of this wheel. Using 4cm Vine Balls and Yucca Pieces is also a great foraging idea. Measures roughly 20cm in diameter and 5cm thick/deep. It screws onto cage at 2 points and fits most cage and aviary bars. For medium parrots, I suggest the smaller, 'Extra-Large' version of this wheel. They are all made from tough polycarbonate and are dishwasher safe.
This is a fun little puzzle toy for your parrot to explore and find treats in.
To use this foraging toy, your bird needs to turn the inner shaft of the toy using the forked handle at the front. The barrel can lock in either direction and only by turning the shaft to the central position, will it slide out to reveal the treat opening. This toy is made from tough, polycarbonate and will hold up against even the tougher beaks. The barrel itself is 4 x 7cm when closed and hangs from a chain with small quick link, totaling 28cm long.

Measures 16cm in diameter and 4cm thick/deep. It screws onto cage at 2 points and fits most cage and aviary bars. For larger parrots, I suggest the 'Giant' version of this wheel. The Creative Foraging Systems Box Feeder toy is great for feeding your birds' dry food and treats. Fill with a mix of food and bird safe foraging substrate to make the food harder to get to. Your bird will need to chew open the cardboard box to access the rewards inside! This starter pack comes with 10 refill boxes which come with a 'honeycomb divider' to separate the box into 8 compartments, prolonging the foraging enjoyment! Refill packs of 15 boxes can be purchased separately in my store. This toy is the larger of the 2 sizes (shown together in last images) and is made from tough polycarbonate and will hold up against even the tougher beaks. It comes in clear, as pictured and attaches to the side of the cage using a polycarbonate screw/washer that fits most cage and aviary bars. Be careful not to cross thread these when tightening them as the screw pieces will snap!
There is a reason this original foraging wheel from Caitec is still around, it is great for feeding your birds' dry food and treats and can be used by many breeds, including small parrots. Fill with a mix of normal food or treats and a safe foraging substrate, to make the treats harder to get to. Your bird will need to turn the face of the wheel using the handle or the openings. This changes the position of the 2 openings and allows access to the 5 different compartments within the wheel. You can add chewable items to the mix for your bird to get their beak into. Mini and small Feather Weight Foot Toys fit well inside the compartments, as well as 2cm Vine Balls and small Yucca Pieces.
This toy is made from tough polycarbonate and will hold up against even the tougher beaks. It attaches to the side of the cage using the typical Creative Foraging Systems washer/screw provided which fits most cage and aviary bars.
The wheel is about 15cm in diameter and 3cm deep and best suits small and medium parrots and is not very suitable for Alexandrines due to their beak size. Check out the Generation II wheels for larger birds.
The Snack Rack is a great foraging puzzle for parrots that has 2 main difficulty levels. Hide treats, toys, pellets, fruit or vege chunks within the Snack Rack for your bird to get out. Your bird will need to turn the outer pieces which rotate around the main body of the toy. Great for small parrots (eg Conures, Quakers, Lorikeets) that are experienced with other foraging designs, as well as for all medium and large breeds of parrots. Each of the 2 outer pieces has an indent which allows the piece to pass over the middle shelf which has a protruding piece. Start the toy at an easier level by having the treat at the top so your bird just needs to turn the pieces until one falls down to reveal the treat. For Alexandrines and larger parrots, you can later increase the difficulty by putting the treat in the bottom level and your bird will need to turn and LIFT the top level to get it over the shelf above it, before retrieving their reward. This can be seen in the videos below. Please note, this toy used to come in a translucent green colour, as you will see in the videos. It now comes as completely clear.Parrots are very clever, but won't automatically know how to use this toy. Be sure to introduce this toy to them at an easy level and gradually make it more difficult - show them how to use it, let them win!
