Vine Balls are a great, versatile item. They can be used as a chewable foot toy, put food inside and use it within a foraging toy or even on its' own as a foraging foot toy! Lastly, they make a great toy part as you can thread them onto wire, chain or rope as part of a toy. Each vine ball is made from wound grape vine and is roughly 2cm in diameter, but do vary as they are natural products. Larger vine balls are also available in my store.
A selection of 5 various pieces of Yucca. Yucca is a type of plant and these pieces of dried plant stalk are bird safe, soft and chewable. Parrots, small and large love munching on the soft, fibrous natural material. It's great to give as a foot toy or thread onto other toys. You can poke a hole with skewer, wire or scissors and hang it in your birds' cage. By making small holes in the Yucca and pushing dry food treats into it, you can make this a foraging foot toy also. As a natural item, the pieces do vary and a fair selection will be chosen for you. The last photo is an example of how food can be stuck in the yucca. This is a different size/style of Yucca to the item - see "5 Yucca Slices" for this style of Yucca piece. Yucca, also known as 'yukka'.
Pinecones are great for your bird to chew. You can also hide treats inside them. These Pinecones have been briefly soaked in a solution of F10 veterinary disinfectant and lightly scrubbed to remove any debris, before being dried in the sun. You can also select to have holes drilled in them to thread them onto wire or a skewer yourself. These will be roughly 4.5mm holes that will suit most small skewers. Large skewers and ropes are generally unsuitable for Pinecones as I'm not able to drill larger holes in them without breaking the core. They are packed into a box with shredded paper, or into paper bags within the box for posting.
These are super cute little maraca rattles that are great as a foot toy for an inquisitive parrot. There are small beads inside that clatter and rattle around making a pleasing sound for your bird. They can also be threaded onto wire or a very small 'O' ring through the roughly 2mm hole in the tip of the handle and used as a toy part. Each maraca measures about 7cm long and 2.5cm in diameter and the widest point. Colours are as displayed (purple, blue, pink, green and yellow) and a random selection will be chosen for you.
The plastic isn't sturdy enough to withstand the chewing of larger parrots but they make good foot toys with supervision and are great additions to the cage for non-destructive birds.
A standard sized, small pear clip that is 100% stainless steel, including the clasp. It is the safest metal for use with our parrots and the design is safe with any small parrots that don't un-do the clasps. Always use quick links, tightened with pliers, for large parrots or those that can un-do these clips. Many toys come with links attached in the nickel plated variety. You can replace them with stainless steel links. Also check your purchases as certain toys and ranges like Planet Pleasures and my own natural toys don't come with links so you can choose your own.
Plastic 'C' links are handy links for small parrot owners. You can make these into a chain or use them to attach bird toys to cage bars or make your own creations.Ensure you also purchase 'straw beads' to close the 'C' link as shown. This is important to keep your bird safe from getting their beak or other parts caught in the opening.
