Nina Ottosson Challenge Slider

$71.00 (inc GST)

The new Challenge Slider by Nina Ottosson and Outward Hound is a level 3 enrichment game for advanced puzzle pooches! There are 24 hidden treat compartments in this game, each covered by a sliding tile. Your clever pet will need to use paw and nose to slide the tiles back and forth, left and right in turn to find each tasty morsel that you’ve left for them. Wet or dry food can be used in this toy that can hold up to 1 cup of kibble.

The Challenger Slider is cleverly made, with skid-stop rubber feet and a pull out tray to make filling and cleaning the toy easy (you don’t have to work as hard as your dog does!). It is BPA, PVC and phthalate free.

This puzzle measures 37.3 x 37.3 x 5cm.

The range of Nina Ottosson puzzles starts at level 1 and goes to level 4. All game boards of this type are intended for use with supervision – play together with your dog and help them learn.

Information From The Nina Ottosson Website:

HOW TO PLAY: Place your dog’s favorite treats or food in the compartments of the removable tray. Slide the tray back into the game. Supervise, show and encourage your dog to move sliders back and forth to seek treats. If your dog is too rough with his paws, place the game in your lap or on a stool, so that your dog can only use his nose to move the sliders. Let the games begin!

IT`S EASY TO FILL: Pull out the tray, fill compartments with treats or food, slide the tray back again.

PLAYING RULES: Because it is a challenging game, we recommend that you play together, and teach your dog the rules of the game and how it works

FUN FOR ALL DOGS: This puzzle is advanced, so it´s best suited for dogs who have played other games before, and have fine motor skills, regardless of age, size or breed.

FROZEN PUZZLE: Mix a little canned meat with water, pour some of the mixture in the tray´s compartments, or place a small piece of sausage or a tasty treat in each compartment, pour a little water, put the game in the freezer and let it set. This is perfect for dogs who need some extra activity.

REDUCES DESTRUCTIVE BEHAVIORS: By keeping your dog’s mind busy, treat puzzle toys can help reduce unwanted behaviors.

PLAY AND BOND: The Challenge Slider is a great way to bond with your dog while teaching basic training commands in a fun way.

MAKES FEEDING FUN: This treat puzzle can be used to feed your dog healthy treats or dry kibble – solving the food puzzle creates an engaging, slowed-down mealtime.

BPA, PVC & PHTHALATE FREE: Made with food-safe materials that you can trust for your dog.

EASY TO CLEAN: To wash, simply remove all treats/kibble and hand wash with warm soapy water, rinse clean and dry. Fill again for more fun!

IT`S FUN. IT FEEDS. It’s a challenge your dog needs! Nina Ottosson Treat Puzzle Games fight boredom, help reduce destructive behaviors & exercise your dog’s mind. It’s hide & seek with treats, and dogs love it!

CAUTION: This is not a chew toy. Inspect regularly for damage and remove and replace if broken, or if parts become separated, as serious injury may result.

ALWAYS supervise your dog when using the Challenge Slider. Once emptied of treats or kibble, the game should be stored until next supervised use. Intended for pets only. Keep out of reach of children.

This is the second toy I have purchased in the Nina Ottosson range and my dog, Grover, loves both of them. I was a little horrified when after the first use, Grover managed to get some of the blue sliders out of the puzzle. I thought this toy was going to be a lot of money for very little enjoyment. However, I was able to slot the pieces back in after a little problem solving. Now that he understands the toy, he doesn’t brute force it as much, and the pieces tend to stay put… but even if they don’t, I now know how to put it back together. One of the things I love about this range, is that they seem to be made so that if they “break”, you can put them back together again and they are as good as new. Lately, Grover has been reluctant to eat his regular food… but any time we place his regular food in this toy, he eats every last bit of it. I highly recommend this toy!
