An acrylic foraging toy for dry food treats and foot toys that can be used by inexperienced and practiced foragers. To use this toy your small or medium parrot needs to pull on each of the 2 shelves to release their larger treat or foot toy to the opening at the bottom. The Small Birdy Plunk hangs from a length of nickel plated chain with a pear clip at the top. A Mini Feather Weight foraging foot toy is pictured in use and can be purchased separately for small seeds to go inside. Or you can use a nut or smaller treat wrapped in paper as the treat or a 2cm Vine Ball (foraging foot toy) with food inside. The Groovy Bonzo is a chewing toy made for our smaller chewing parrots. With thick paper twist rope poking about, it entices even shy chewers in for a nibble. The different textures of the grooved timber and bits to twirl around on the paper rope is all made from bird safe materials. The toy measures 25cm wide, 4cm deep and a total of 40cm long including the hanging link it comes with (the body of the toy is about 15cm tall). The medium size of this toy is also available in the online store.
A selection of 5 pieces of Yucca. Yucca is a type of plant and these pieces of dried plant stalk are bird safe, soft and chewable. Parrots, small and large love munching on the soft, fibrous natural material. It's great to give as a foot toy or thread onto other toys. You can poke a hole with skewer, wire or scissors and hang it in your birds' cage. By making small holes in the Yucca and pushing dry food treats into it, you can make this a foraging foot toy also. You will receive a pack of 5 pieces, as pictured - 2 discs, 2 quarter pieces and a half piece. The half is from a larger disc so is a decent size and all slices are roughly 2cm thick. These can all be cut to smaller pieces easily with a stanley blade so can make more than 5 pieces. As a natural item, the pieces do vary and can have 'imperfections' and areas of different colours. These yucca slices have come from the 'Bird Kabob' 20 pack (shown below), which I have opened and divided into even packs of 5 pieces each for those wanting to try a smaller amount. The last photo is an example of how food can be stuck in the yucca.Yucca, also known as 'yukka'.
The Beak Buster is a great new foot toy design by Australian company, My Parrot Shop. Each side of this dice like cube has various coloured balls of wood hammered into them. They're nicely stuck in but that won't stop your your feathered friend having a good dig and a chew at them! The Beak Buster is a fantastic foot toy that is sure to delight (and maybe frustrate just a little bit) any parrot. It measures 4.5cm cubed and is made from parrot safe timber, including the vegetable died balls on each face.
These Feather Weight foot toys are so versatile! You can use them for foraging as you can hide food in the ridges of each 'bobble' for your bird to dig out. They can be given as a foot toy and the mini ones can be put inside many other foraging toys or hidden around the cage. The rings can be used as toy parts, hung from other toys, given as a foot toy or placed around your birds' perches. Because they are made as kids toys, with non-toxic plastic, they are as safe as possible for your bird to chew. I use these daily for my own birds, hiding seeds and small pellets in the ridges and using them through the foraging toys in their cages. Take a look at all the videos in the tab below of the various foot toys in use. Please note the videos also show the 'small and medium' ones in use. These sizes are currently unavailable, but the mini (single ball) and rings (5 balls in a loop) are available. Each ball is about 2cm in diameter and are available in blue, green, yellow, orange, pink, purple and red as pictured. A random selection of colours will be chosen for you unless otherwise requested.
This super fun bell ball foot toy/toy part is made by Super Bird. It is a particularly safe design, made with parrots in mind. Your bird will love the shrill jingle of this bell ball! Please be aware that the more destructive birds may break the plastic with their beaks. The good news is that the interior bell is not the unsafe kind (cheap metal with tapering off openings to catch beaks and toes), it is made from plastic and has a consistent opening size/shape which is much safer if your parrot were to play with this part. The ball measures 5cm in diameter and can be used by most breeds of bird.
The Push and Pull is a foraging toy with a familiar concept, push and pull the levers back and forth to release food to the lower level. Your clever parrot will need to shake and move the levers on each of the levels to get their reward to the opening at the bottom of the toy. The treat retrieval area can be accessed from 2 sides which makes it suitable for sharing too. The toy is filled from the top after twisting the lid off. By filling this toy with a bird-safe foraging substrate, you can make the Push & Pull more difficult for a more experienced forager. This one is a favourite of my Quaker pair, Marnie & Elle! The body of the toy measures 18cm tall, 11cm wide (including the levers) and hangs a total of 35cm from a chain and pear clip.
These 2cm Vine Balls are coloured with bird safe vegetable dyes and are exciting and crunchy for your bird to chew. Great to use as a toy part or give it to your parrot as a foot toy, even better when you stuff favourite dry treats inside for your parrot to forage for! They come in a variety of colours as pictured and measure roughly 2cm in diameter. As a natural product, every vine ball varies.
A pack of 3 Liquorice Allsorts which are small foot toys made with soft balsa wood and vegetable tanned leather. They come in packing from 'My Parrot Shop'.
A selection of 5 various pieces of Yucca. As a natural item, the pieces do vary and a fair selection will be chosen for you. The last photo is an example of how food can be stuck in the yucca. This is a different size/style of Yucca to the item - see "5 Yucca Slices" for this style of Yucca piece. Yucca, also known as 'yukka'.
