A handy, easy to use ‘sundeck’ platform for your bird to relax on. The arms hook onto the horizontal bars of the cage and the platform sits flat below it. These are versatile items that suit most cage designs. Pop this platform high up in your birds cage as a nice roosting spot or at another level, with foot toys as a play area for your parrot. It can also be handy to place this near to a bolt-on foraging toy to provide access to that level of the cage. Popular with all birds, these are great for handicapped parrots, with mobility or stability issues too.

The platform measures 20cm wide, 16cm deep and the arms are 10cm tall (the platform will sit 10cm below the horizontal bars that it hooks onto). They come with plain, coated bars which you can safely use as is or cover yourself with native bark or similar.

I also offer the option of adding a piece of woven seagrass mat onto the platform for a chewable, safe & comfy perching spot for your bird. Replacements can be purchased separately for once the mat gets chewed. I use seagrass mats from Bunnings, that I wash and then soak in F10 veterinary disinfectant. They are thoroughly sun dried then cut to size, using a few small zip ties to stop the cut ends from fraying. The seagrass mat is then attached to the Sundeck with a few more small zip ties.

You can choose to make these seagrass covers yourself, however it’s recommended to wash the mats well before use

My canary, Frankie, loves this sundeck! I’ve covered it in seagrass and he really enjoys hopping around on it, foraging for little seeds that I tuck between the seagrass threads for him. The poor little guy has some issues with his feet, so it’s nice for him to have a flat place to perch when his feet need a rest from the wood perches. I find it really easy to clean too, I just give it a good scrub with some vinegar, hot water and a brush and then hang it in the sun to dry.
