Finger traps are crinkly little toy parts that can be used as foot toys, stuffed with shredded paper or food and threaded over perches. So much fun to be had! They're safe to chew and a favourite of many small parrots. These finger traps are vibrantly coloured and all the same (no variation). I also sell standard colours of finger traps.
A 20g pack of shredded crinkly paper in your choice of 2 colours. Photos show a 20g lot of each colour next to a 30cm ruler for your reference. Great to stuff into vine balls and finger traps or use in foraging toys - birds love preening and chewing on this safe, crinkly paper.
This great little climbing net is ideal for those smaller feet and beaks! Designed with Budgies, Lovebirds & Cockatiels in mind, the diameter of the rope pieces is 3-4mm. It is made from hemp which is a natural fibre that is a lot safer for your bird to nibble on than cotton or other ropes. It is actually small enough to fit reasonably within your birds cage, or can be set up as part of a play area out of the cage. The net measures 40cm x 40cm and doesn't come with hanging links. You can purchase these separately or hang around existing perches if you get creative.
This is a cute little foraging toy that is great for the smaller breeds of birds. Fill it with your bird's favourite treats, and their normal diet. Your bird will need to spin the maze by holding onto the opening and moving it around. The wheel spins freely and your bird can watch their food move from shelf to shelf until it reaches the opening. By adding bird safe foraging substrate, you can increase the difficulty of this maze once your bird is experienced at it. The maze fits together as 2 pieces and is held firmly by the bolt and washers attaching it, however it can be taken apart for easy cleaning. This toy is made from tough, clear and coloured acrylic and will hold up against even the tougher beaks. It is the small version of this toy, a large is also available and both are pictured in the last image. The small measures 10cm in diameter and roughly 3cm thick/deep. Screws onto the side of the cage with the nut and bolt set, as well as 2 washers. Fits all cage/aviary bars.
The Creative Foraging Systems Hanging Box Feeder toy is great for feeding your birds' dry food and treats. Fill with bird safe foraging substrate to make the food harder to get to and more time consuming for your bird. Your can introduce this to your bird at an easy level, without any covering at first. Once they know there's food in the toy, you can start covering it with the sleeves provided for them to work more for their food. Your clever parrot will need to chew open the cardboard box to access the rewards inside! The cardboard sleeves come with various perforated openings that you can remove as 'windows' to the food inside, another great way to adjust the difficulty as your bird learns. The Hanging Box Feeder comes with 2 sleeves in the pack already and refill packs of 5 sleeves can be purchased separately. This toy is made from clear polycarbonate and hangs on a short chain with pear clip to attach it to your birds' cage.
The Pipe Dream is a foraging toy of Kirsty's own design. They are made in 3 different sizes to suit a range of parrots and the small is best suited to Budgies and Lovebirds. Your small parrot just needs to push the plastic lid to the side and reach their beak inside the pipe to retrieve their reward, normally some millet or pellets mixed with some bird safe foraging substrate. When first introducing this toy, you can use a piece of sticky tape to hold one lid open for your bird to learn where to find the food. After they have used it this way for a few days, you can remove the tape and let them pick the lid up themselves. For Cockatiels and other small parrots, I recommend the medium toy. The Pipe dream is made with bird safe plastic and pvc and all hardware is stainless steel. There is an 'o' ring at the top to attach your own hanging link to.
This is a very popular foraging toy that is great for the smaller breeds of birds. It is easy to teach your bird to use and can also be made more difficult. Fill it with your bird's favourite treats, and their normal diet, mixed with bird safe foraging substrate. You can use Mini Feather Weight Foot toys, vine balls and other items in this toy as well as treats. The photos show the toy with these items in use. It comes brand new and empty. Your bird will need to lift the light, plastic lid and reach their head into the cup to access their reward. The cups and lids move around freely on a long length of nickel plated chain. While your bird is learning to use the toy, you can sticky tape the lids open or partially open to make it easier for them. Then change to no tape, with the lids sitting loosely once your parrot knows that they can get the food with the lid lifted. You can even start sticky taping the lids closed once your parrot is really good at this toy! They will need to chew through the tape to open the lid! (avian vet recommended/safe). Measures 43cm long (including pear clip and bell) and 6.5cm wide.
This is a super cute little toy that combines shredding fun and foraging! Sprinkle some seed or pellets in the natural, woven basket as well as treats/foot toys/beads in the 2 smiley mugs, hanging below the basket. The mugs hold a 2cm Vine Ball or Mini Feather Weight perfectly as a foraging foot toy for your bird to find (see the videos)! The 4cm birdy bagel tube between the basket and the rubber duck is stuffed with colourful, crinkle paper and is another great place to hide a foraging parcel for your bird. There is a bell, c links and mini pacifiers at the bottom for your bird to play with as well!Measures 23cm long and 13cm in diameter and the cups come in various colours as shown.
The Smarty Stick is a small hanging foraging toy made out of hard timber. Each of the 6 coloured dots is removeable and has a 'well' underneath that you can hide small treats in for your bird to retrieve. Put small pieces of nuts, flavoured pellets or a sunflower seed under the dot and teach your parrot to remove the dot to find the reward. The Smarty stick is 2.5cm thick and 10cm long but hangs nearly 20cm long from stainless steel chain and 'o' ring at the top. Hanging links can be purchased separately if required. This toy is also available in my store in foot toy ring version. It is called the 'Smarty Ring'. The dots can be quite well hammered in at first, please let me know if you'd like my assistance removing them for the first time or if your parrot would prefer to dig them out themselves!
This is a high quality, sturdy foraging design that is great for all breeds of birds. Fill it with your bird's fruits and vegetables as well as foot toys, blocks of wood, pinecones and banksia pods.
Your bird will need to reach through the gaps in the bars to access their rewards. You could make this harder by wrapping everything inside the toy with paper for them to chew open or lining the baffle cage with cardboard once your parrot has mastered it. This toy is 100% stainless steel and measures 15 x 15cm across, while hanging a total of 40cm tall from a chain with quick link attachment. The bars are 2cm apart.
These are super cute little maraca rattles that are great as a foot toy for an inquisitive parrot. There are small beads inside that clatter and rattle around making a pleasing sound for your bird. They can also be threaded onto wire or a very small 'O' ring through the roughly 2mm hole in the tip of the handle and used as a toy part. Each maraca measures about 7cm long and 2.5cm in diameter and the widest point. Colours are as displayed (purple, blue, pink, green and yellow) and a random selection will be chosen for you.
The plastic isn't sturdy enough to withstand the chewing of larger parrots but they make good foot toys with supervision and are great additions to the cage for non-destructive birds.
Feeling the cold? As the temperature cools down, these Snuggle Safe Heat Pads are a great, SAFE way to keep your pets warm. With no electric cords or chewable surfaces, this is the safest way to do it. The Snuggle Safe Heat Pad can be used for cats, dogs, parrots, rabbits and pocket pets. Microwave for about 8 minutes (see instructions for different microwaves) and it stays warm for nearly 10 hours so it's great for overnight. The heat pad comes with a fleece cover which can be used with cats, dogs and most pocket pets, though it's recommended to not have materials in reach of parrots and other pets that like to chew fabric. I choose to not have fabrics near my birds and it works just fine without the cover. For a cheaper alternative, see the Hound House Cozy Cushion, also available from this site.
