Only the pre-made perches are listed currently. These are in stock and ready to send. I always aim to provide a range of bark variety, but may not be able to meet specific requests with my current supplies.
Bolt on perches are a great addition to your birds’ cage. They come with washers and a wingnut, to easily attach to the inside or outside of the cage and can also be used in aviaries. Each natural branch has been hand selected by me from safe, native trees. I always use branch with bark, so they’re great for your parrot to chew as well as being good for their feet and beak. These should replace the dowel perches provided cages, as well as bolt on ‘concrete’ or sandpaper perches. As the bark is worn or chewed and the perch becomes smooth, they should be replaced with new, barky branches.
All stainless steel hardware is used and the branches are cleaned before sale, so they’re ready to use and as safe as can be for your bird! A mix of Paperbark, Bottle Brush, Brush Box, Wattle, rough bark Eucalypt, Casuarina and other native branches are typically used and a fair variety will be supplied when multiple perches are purchased. These branches are gathered locally, from fresh native trees. As a natural product, each branch will vary and may have some natural imperfections. Lichen can be normal on certain branches and is safe. These branches are normally fairly straight and don’t have major forks. If you’d like a forked branch, check out the individually listed Unique Forked Branch.
Bolt on perches are available in 15cm, 20cm, 25cm and 30cm lengths. Thin branches are normally 1.5cm – 2.5cm in diameter, while thick branches are 2.5cm – 5cm in diameter. Extra-thick perches measure over 5cm in diameter and are available HERE. Please allow for some variation in measurement. In an effort to keep this section brief and make browsing the size options easier, a more detailed description is available below. Please choose your preferred sized perches from the drop down menu to order.

The branches are cleaned via a light scrub (to remove insects and debris, without taking too much bark off), then disinfected with F10 (bird safe veterinary disinfectant) and sun dried before sale. Multiple perches are pictured in most photos, to show the variety of bark types, however they are sold as individual items. Purchase the quantity that you require.
100% stainless steel hardware is used, for the safest product for your bird. Each perch comes with a wingnut and 2 washers, to attach the perch to cage or aviary bars. The standard washers are 32mm in diameter, so suit most cage bars. The option exists to upgrade to large, 50mm washers for particularly large cage bars (recommended for bar spacing 2cm or wider). Or, if you already have a stash of spare wingnuts and washers from previous, chewed perches, you can choose the option to not have this hardware included.
Bolt on perches are available in 15cm, 20cm, 25cm and 30cm lengths (please allow for a difference of up to 1cm per perch). Choose the length to suit your space. The shorter perches are ideal for use on the inside of your birds’ cage door (most doors that swing outwards are big enough to have the perch move in and out of the door space with it), while the longer ones suit your birds’ main cage space best. They can also be used as a ‘veranda’ outside of your birds’ cage.
‘Thin’ and ‘thick’ refers to the diameter of the branch, not the thickness of the bark. Thin branches are normally 1.5cm – 2.5cm in diameter, while thick branches are 2.5cm – 5cm in diameter. Extra-thick perches measure over 5cm in diameter and are available HERE. It is recommended to provide your bird with a range of branch thicknesses and bark types. See the below for details of what perches will best suit your breed of bird. When multiple perches are ordered, I always aim to provide a variety where available. If you have a preference of which bark type you receive, please mention this in your order notes and I will do my best to accommodate. Please note, all types might not be available at all times and I always provide a fair variety.
This product is handmade by me (Kirsty). While I often have some perches pre-made and ready to send, some orders may wait while I prepare new perches. Normally this wait is only a few days to a week. Feel free to contact me to check availability.
My recommendations for perch thickness, dependent on breed of bird are below. This is referring to the available perches in your birds’ whole living space.
Budgie & Lovebird: All thin except for 1 thick.
Cockatiel, Conure, Quaker (and similar small parrots): Mostly thin, but around 25% thick perches.
Indian Ringneck & Hahn’s Macaw: Around 25% thin, the rest thick.
Alexandrine: All thick except for 1 thin.
Galah, Corella, African Grey: All thick except for 1 extra-thick.
Eclectus, Large Cockatoos & Macaws: Mix of thick and extra-thick.
