Foraging Windmill/Paddle Wheel

Foraging Windmill/Paddle Wheel

$39.60

This is a very smart and well designed foraging toy for experienced foragers and is suitable for most small breeds of birds, as well as medium ones.

Fill the top compartment with pellets/seeds/pieces of nut treats and some foraging substrate. Your bird will need to turn both the wheel at the top and then the wheel at the bottom of the toy. This spins the paddles, moving the food from level to level until it falls into the tray below for your bird to retrieve.

The windmill is made from tough polycarbonate and will hold up against even the tougher beaks. *Note – the toy does have a small (stainless steel) wing nut that holds the lid of this toy on. This wingnut does spin with the bottom wheel so it would be tricky for most birds to unscrew without help. If this is an issue for your bird, avoid this toy or outsmart them by placing it only a cm from the ceiling of the cage, so they can turn the wheel but not access the screw!

Measures roughly 23cm tall an 9cm in diameter. Screws onto the side of the cage with 2 of the polycarbonate washer/screws and fits most cage and aviary bars.

Bought this for my two Cockatiels who have mastered the beginner foraging toys. I’ve been lazy with training them how to use this so I can’t give it any less than 4 stars. Until I do it’s still a great dispenser and keeps the floor clean which is always a bonus!

Great toy, my Indian Ringneck has been enjoying his after he learned to use it. It’s definitely a trickier one but I love the extra challenge it provides as he’s now quite experienced with some of the other toys. AWESOME!

Fantastic foraging toy and is certainly worth buying. My galah is extremely enthusiastic when it’s filled in the morning and it keeps him occupied for quite some time.
